The Indianapolis Star has an article called "Web Game Leads to Bomb Scare". Read the article if you are into Geocaching.
First problem I have, is that someone didn't think before placing this cache. Putting it next to a train is just dumb. Putting a cache anywhere near police departments, government buildings, or trasportation buildings is really, really dumb.
My second problem is with Blackford County Sheriff Kevin Mahan saying "They need to find another game." He would have had no clue about this if the cache was placed in the woods like most caches are. Which pretty much leads us back to problem number 1. I guess what bugs me about this is how people who may have some form of power or authority start talking out thier asses about things that they don't understand or know anything about. It is just one of those things that bugs me I guess.
I've thought about placing a cache in the woods behind my house. It is supposed to be given to the Indiana Parks department, and there is a trail being put in back there. The only thing I debate on is putting the entrance by my house, or putting the entrance over by the other end of the trail.
Posted by ianshot at October 27, 2004 10:13 AM | TrackBackThis upsets me a bit. It's ovious that the person that placed the cache did not read the requirements on placing a cache. If he had, he would have informed the property owner that it was there, and if needed, informed the local officials so that they would know it was there. Bear did this for the one we placed in Fortville. When the box was found accidently, the person was informed just to leave it there because it was part of a game. Grrrr...
