For Sale; the Mundane

This past weekend we had a garage sale at the house. We had stuff that needed to be gotten rid of, so we tried a garage sale. This was all my wife's idea, so I left everything to her. I think we made a total of $30 or $35 on the garage sale. We ended up taking most everything else over to Goodwill, so we will get a tax deduction out of it later this year. What didn't get sold, or donated will most likely end up on Ebay.

We have donated a lot of stuff this year, a couch, two love seats, 4 or 5 bags of cloths, two bags of household goods. I still have a car to donate, I found the title for it, so I just have to get that transfered to my name, then we should be off and running.

It's been *ages* now since I donated a car to Volunteers of America, but I had a similar situation to you. I gave my parent's my car, and they gave me their car to donate. I seem to remember being able to donate it without getting the title transferred. I think that they transferred it over to me (on the back of the title you can do that), and I just transferred it over to Volunteers of America. There might have been a letter involved too, but again I don't remember. You might want to call up the place you want to donate it to and see if they can all you to donate it without the transfer happening via the BMV. Could save you a few cents.
